ree

During the UNGA high-level week, ZÂNI hosted H.E. Mrs. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, President of the Republic of Kosovo, where we discussed the leadership of women in state-building, democratic governance, and postwar reconstruction. The discussion explored President Osmani-Sadriu’s journey into navigating male-dominated political spaces and her efforts to strengthen democratic institutions in the country’s evolving civic landscape.

Additionally, the dialogue stressed the importance of creating bridges between Kosovo and its diaspora, particularly with the youth being a source of civic engagement and expertise. President Osmani-Sadriu shared insights on empowering young leaders abroad to participate in the country’s democratization and development processes,  highlighting mechanisms in which women can advance advocacy and policy ideas.

Specifically, the exchange stressed the need for long-term frameworks that harness the capacities of young professionals and women in the diaspora, including the establishment of targeted programs to facilitate policy innovation and cross-border collaboration.

Moderated by Emine Shinjatari and Elisa Stefani, the conversation concluded with reflections on the integration of diverse voices into Kosovo’s policymaking landscape, reaffirming the vital role of women in leadership roles in a post-war society.
